The South India Jewellery Show, 2009


The South India Jewellery Show, 2009 held at Hotel Lalit Ashok, Bangalore, was one of the major global jewellery events of the year, with 136 stalls catering to 8,000 visitors. It was a business to business meet held from March 14 to 16, 2009.It included educational seminars on jewellery trade, fashion shows around latest jewellery trends, new product launches, jewellery design competitions and interactions between jewellery retailers, wholesalers, dealers, trade organisations, designers, artisans, goldsmiths, business consultants and vendors of jewellery related equipment. It aimed at building enduring professional relationships between businesspeople and discussed innovations necessary in the field to meet consumer expectations. Mordy Rapaport, Rapaport Group, spoke on ‘sourcing diamonds online’, on 16 March, 2009. The show was organized by The Art of Jewellery magazine, World Gold Council, All India Gem and Jewellery Trade Federation, Bangalore Jewellers Association, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry, Gitanjali group and jewellery trade bodies of south India. Incidentally Rapaport Group has a 50 percent stake in the Art of Jewellery magazine and provides it's editorial content and is an online partner. The jewellery sector of India is the fastest growing in the world and has attracted investors across the world. The show preceded the auspicious days of Ugadi and Akshaya Tritiya, an ideal time for retailers to replenish stocks.
